The Dutch Kills community is fortunate to be located within the confines of the 114th Police Precinct, which, according to FBI statistics, is rated among the city’s low crime commands.

Officials at the 114th Precinct offer a full range of free crime prevention programs, including auto theft prevention programs, senior programs, domestic violence services and a number of other NYPD sponsored community outreach programs.

Qualified individuals residing within the 114th Precinct command are urged to participate in the precinct Auxiliary Police Unit and the youth Explorer Unit.

The Dutch Kills community is provided fire services through Engine Co.260, Battalion 45 and Ladder Co. 116.

Ladder 116 has provided services to neighborhoods in Dutch Kills for more than a century from a “little red firehouse,” centrally located within the community.

Firefighters at Engine Co. 260, Battalion 45 and Ladder Co. 116 provide fire prevention services and inspections to the expanding residential Dutch Kills community and area businesses.

Queens District 1 CERT (NYC OEM Community Emergency Response Team)

NYC CERTs are groups of dedicated volunteers who help to prepare their neighbors and communities for different types of disasters. They are also trained in how to respond to emergencies by supporting emergency services personnel throughout the city. NYC CERT falls under the NYC Citizen Corps Council, the managing entity for all organizations and agencies with an interest in emergency preparedness.
